We're migrating away from Avaya CM in the next couple of months and I would like to enable to PC passthrough ports on our 9608 phones so that we can run the Polycom replacements side by side for a test. Where can I change it globally in CM that all the 9608's on our switch will have the PC passthrough enabled?

The second Ethernet port is enabled by default. You can turn it off or on via the 46xxsettings.txt file.

Hey Captain Obvious, how did you plan on powering those Polycoms? They ain't POE ports on the backs of the 9600s

They must have been turned off by the company that installed them then, how do I go about editing that 46xxsettings.txt file?

We're powering them by the included AC adapter initially, then after the migration they will be POE replacing the Avaya phones.

There's nothing you can edit in the settings file relative to POE.

Just saying if you're daisychaining a phone to a phone to a switchport, you'll need 2 power sources - POE from the switch and an AC POE brick, or 2 port POE adapter for each phone or something like that.

## PHY2STAT specifies the speed and duplex settings for the secondary (PC) Ethernet interface.
## Valid values are 0 through 6; the default value is 1.
## Value Operation
## 0 disabled
## 1 auto-negotiate
## 2 10Mbps half-duplex
## 3 10Mbps full-duplex
## 4 100Mbps half-duplex
## 5 100Mbps full-duplex
## 6 1Gbps full-duplex if supported by hardware, otherwise auto-negotiate
## This parameter is supported by:
## H1xx SIP R1.0 and later (values 0-5 only)
## 96x1 H.323 R6.0 and later
## 96x1 SIP R6.2 and later (values 0-5 only)
## 96x1 SIP R6.0.x
## 96x0 H.323 R1.0 and later
## 96x0 SIP R1.0 and later
## 46xx H.323 R1.8 and later (values 0-5 only)
## 46xx SIP R2.2 and later (values 0-5 only)
## 16xx H.323 R1.0 and later
## 16CC SIP R1.0 and later
## 1603 SIP R1.0 and later
## SET PHY2STAT 1

If you are using VLANs for the Polycom phones, then you will also want to make sure that the configuration parameters for VLANs for the PC port are also properly set.

Kyle555 I'm doing NOTHING with POE here. I just want the data to pass through it. No VLANs since the phone network is completely separate of the data network.

Gwebster, thanks for the info. Now I just need to FTP into the switch, move the file to a spot where I can edit it, and move it back. Then I'm guessing restarting all the phones should force them to read the new file from the call server.
