I'm having trouble with a few 9608 handsets,
the screen locks up (freezes) and the phone reboots
shortly thereafter. IP Office 7.0.278401, 9608 at S9608_11HALBR6_1r38_V4r52

I know there is (or was?) an issue with these handsets concerning
the display allignment. The handsets were bought last year before they were pulled from sales. They were installed but not 'utilized' until last week.

Any thoughts?

Hi Denny

for the last month i have has one of the two UK Avaya engineers at our site due to problems with our Avaya G450 and Avaya 9608 phones

we managed to fix our problem which was not phone related

but avaya have an unreleased service pack for the 9608 which we tested on-site to try and figure out if our problem was related to phones. which fixed alot of other problems including display alignment and handset freezing....i do not have the release notes for the service pack but it must be included on the official release

the only problem it did have was the phones were alot more unstable when starting up - sometimes no display, which meant another reboot - but once they were running they have been good and stable

so if you can hold out another month or 2 i am sure the service pack will be released

CCENT, CCNA
MCP, MCSA
Comptia: Network Essentials, Security +, A+

In the next 8.0 release they should be supported.
I have seen that the phones do not start sometimes.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

tlpeter,

Do you know of any official documentation about this?

The firmware for the 9608 sets is present in the admin-suite and the handsets are back in the ip office pricelist.

9608 is a tempermental beast! keep a look out for firmware upgrade/support, as they are for sale again.
