Can someone please tell me if some of the 9600 series IP phones operate at gigibit speed by default or will I always have to buy an adapter?

You can buy the "G" model phones, such as the 9630G, 9640G etc.

The ONLY advantage of the "G" model/gigabit phones is, if you will be running a PC off the downstream switch port on the phone, on a separate VLAN.

If you are going to use separate cabling for phones/PC's, there is NO advantage to having the phones run at gigabit. They run just fine at 100F

Personaly i think that if you need 1G connections then do that straight and NOT with a phone in between

Gigabit i rarly needed at all and if you need it then you do not want a device that slows down that connection
Every device will slow down speed !!!

Never the less if a customer has gigabit because it is new or cool or sound great or wants to be prepared for the future then sell them the G types of the 9600 series
