I just installed 50 some 9508 phones on IP Office 500 8.0.44. All phones worked with the exception of 7 phones. These phones will just say "please wait" REV .37.
I have moved these phones to different ports, and reinstalled the software and nothing worked.

Here is the interesting part the I found:
If I swapped a good working phone with one of these defective phones the phone will come up without firmware upgrade, and they work fine until the system is rebooted, and then they say "please wait".
I took those phones to an IP Office system that has 7.05 and the phones worked no matter were I plugged them in. Then I took those phones to a 7.36 system and those phones did not work and had the same issues as 8.44 system.

Are those bad phones that they won’t download firmware and needs to be replaced, or is there anything else I can try. Thank you in advance.

I am some what new it Avaya, but I have had this happen once. I believe 8.0.44 uses firmware rev.38 and if it is not on the sd card they will get stuck waiting for it. I have done upgrades where the file failed to transfer to the sd card. I opened up embedded file management and uploaded the file to the card and as soon as it finished the phones immediately started downloading the firmware. Is the proper file on the sd card, on both systems. 7.0.36 is rev.39

Just my .02 cents I have had it happen that the proper file is not there under both, have no idea why but its getting to frustrating. To many bugs and software releases.

Thanks for the reply Singo. Which file did you transfer to the SD card?. I had transfered files suggested by other threads to 7.36 system, but it did not help. Thanks again.

For 8.0.44 I would verify that the sd card has the 9500R38.bin file on the sd card. If you go into your manager folder on the pc you will see the file listed there, if its not there is a problem and if you rebuilt the sd for the system with the files missing there it would be no help to you. I keep all my manager versions on a flash drive so I can access the correct version for each system type I have. Its a real pain to keep up with but it seems to work best for me.

It sucks having to download 1.4gig files every time a new release comes out. Like I said I just install them then copy the folder to a flash drive and keep the install files in a archive in case I ever need them. If the 8.0.44 does not have 9500R38.bin on the card it will hang when it tries to upgrade it. I cant remember what file tells the phone to look for the upgraded .bin file.

Signo, you do not need to download the whole package.
There is also a download with only the binfile.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I cant recall off the top of my head but I though that just downloading the bins did not give you the firmwares for the phones.

Dont want to hijack his thread just thought that getting only the bins didnt give you everything

Hi guys,

I am also still quite new to the Avaya platform.

I have also encountered the above issues with the 95XX series handsets after upgrading the IPO (using the manager > File > Advance > Upgrade...)

I found it usefull to look at a live monitor on the IPO. If I recall correctly, it shows you exactly which file the handset/s is requesting from the IPO. Also, if the file is not there, it reports an error.

Like Signo said, the easiest way to fix is via embedded file manager and upload the required file.

Cheers

It indeed does not do that.
There are a lot of files and maybe you can put them on a FTP site.
But when you have a site where it is not on the internet then you have a problem.
I have a lot of versions always on my laptop so that i never will be surprised (and home early :) )

All The 9500 files are present. I uploaded them anyway but it did not help. Here is what the Monitor program say on the 7.036 system:

The phone phone does not download anything, Just say "please wait" REL .27

Thank you.

Foneman1, i have seen this before and it turned out to be a broken phone.
Try to swap them with new phones and see what happens.

Foneman1: is the Zarlink_R0_09.bin file also in the sd card's Primary folder? I've heard that it's quite often the case where this file doesn't get transferred during an upgrade.

Dan

When in doubt, just keep upgrading! LOL :)

The Zarlink_R0_09.bin is in the sd card's Primary folder. Thanks.
