9508 freezing issue resolved with 8.0(44)? 2

My 9508's have stopped freezing with this release, but I only have two of them so it may not be a fair sample. Has anyone else seen an improvement or are phones still freezing? I like the no paper and bigger display but not the oh gee unplug me every other day to make me work - kindof embarrassing to explain -

I must say that the customers who are on 8.42 and higher do not complain about freezing phones, only the lower 8.0 and 7.0 versions do.
I know a customer where the phone was swapped and the problem came back.
It is definitely not a hardware issue.

I have a ip500 v2 on 8.0(44) and a 9508 was frozen yesterday. he rebooted phone a few times. didnt work. than about 1 hour later it was back on??

9508 phones are terrible right now, and if you attach the Bm12, they're worse.

I'm lobbying internally for a stop-sell on them. Avaya should probably pull them like they did the 96X1 phones.

Almost all our 95XX installs are plagued by freezing phones (exacerbated if the phone has a BM12 attached, and many also continue to struggle with speakerphone call quality issues, despite the most recent firmware and also disabling the gain control for the speakerphone.

these are terrible. It's costing a fortune in repair and site visits.

I'm being told by Avaya that the upcoming release (being tested) will address the issue. They thought they had it with the earlier but still had some events.

As an update... I still won't sell 9508, but I put one on my desk. From the date I upgraded to 8.0(44) (mid-July) until last week, no problems. Then it started freezing single digits on the keypad when on speaker or handset (headset works fine) and I had to unplug it. This is the longest it has behaved and I was beginning to be hopeful. Is it too soon to ask if 8.1 makes a difference?

do a search, there is a patch for it and i think it will be implemented in te next 8.1 but i am not sure.

I have a client with R8.0.44 that still has issues with freezing. I think it is better, but it still happens.

There is indeed a patch from Avaya for the 9508's and it has been successful in the sites implemented over the past few weeks.
Assumimg that is why the delays.
