Hello all,
I have a question on whether or not anyone thinks that this is possible.
I have a customer’s system (CM 5.2 on S8500) that is in two buildings on the same block, building one is the main system location and building two is using IP sets on a POE switch with no LSP or gateway, have the system setup with 2 IP network regions, IP-mapping for two different IP ranges, and two locations associated to each IP network region one for each building.
The customer has people that move from building to building logging in their extension wherever they are sitting for that day.
the question is, since location 2 doesn't have a gateway or local trunks to the location is there a way that I can make the system out pulse a specific number from a phone making a 911 call based on the IP network region that the phone is logged into so that a number that is registered with the 911 system displays that correct address for the building that the call was placed from?
I know that we can out pulse digits in the public table based on which extension makes a call but the extensions in this scenario change depending on where the user is sitting.

Yes it is possible. A number of e911 vendors can help you. redskye911.com and 911etc.com to name a couple...

Well thanks for the helping idea, however that’s not what I was going for. I think managed to work it out and it seems fairly simple but its a two step process.

First: in the Avaya PBX I set the IP Network Mapping Emergency Location Extension to an extension not assigned in the system in the IP address range that is associated to the IP Network Region that pertains to the location.
Then in the Public Unknown Numbering table I told the PBX that if any calls going out through the customers ISDN PRI trunk with the Emergency Location Extension to delete the Emergency Location Extension and replace it with a non-used DID on the PRI.

Second: I have to contacted the carrier and have them associate the DID I assigned to the out bound caller id with a specific address, this DID number will them be set with the carrier as a number assigned as an emergency dial number to dsplay the designated address to the 911 service if a call to 911 is placed displaying this DID number from the PBX.
There are more technical abbreviations for the work done on the carrier side but I don’t remember them and I think the customer has to sign some paper work with the carrier..
