I inherited the maintenance of a 8X24 DR5 and had to reprogram the system due to a move. All 12 incoming lines ring at all phones. My customer says the system use to 'hog the line'. In other words once you picked up an incoming call, one, no one else can pick-up the call while you have it and two, if you place it on hold, no one else can pick it up (like exclusive hold (feature+hold)). He says his system use to do this by default when you picked up the line.

Is he correct, and if so, how do you program the system to do this?

I don't have the 8X24 book but I think this is correct:
Under Line data set the auto-privacy to yes on each line.

This will stop a second set from picking up on an in-progress call.

Jerry is correct and that is set to YES by default!

As for the the Feature Hold I thought that was the only way to do so, unless you set the lines to Full Auto Hold perhaps? Auto Hold used if reception is on line 1 and 2 rings... then reception can press line 2 without putting line one on hold.
