CICS 8x24, DR5, with 18 phones, 3 ATAs, CID box, FastRad.
Is there a tool to download/backup and upload/restore the entire programming for this sys? I got Norstar ICS v9.0, and when I connect to the RAD, the Backup and Browser tools go away. Remote Set Tool works fine. Is there any way to back up the entire contents of this system to a PC and reload in the event of failure?

Tnx in advance.

hd

It is the worst thing with DR5 but you can't use the browser tool . you can use nostar manager and that should be in the NRU 9.0 there is a ok back up and restore feature in it. + you also get a ok GUI programing tool as oposed to doing everything over a 73xx or remote set . Ah. but...
Ths Fast Rad is not compatable with Norstar Manager. You need an old Rad to use Norstar Mangler.

PhM, there was a release of FastRAD that had a problem and a program is in place to replace them, free. When I get back to the office I will provide more information.

I was going to say I use a FastRad on almost all our remote sites and they work just fine on DR5 or MICS If you find a tip helpful Please take a moment to mark it as such.

What should you use for Norstar Manager USERID/PWD when it asks? (new install from downloaded NRU) I set FastRAD pwd to '12345678', tried "CONFIG" and "ADMIN" as the user, to no avail. Tnx again. hd

Thanks for all the help. I got it working, and then got a message box that said, "This KSU variant is unsupported by Norstar Manager - Try using remote tools"

DueE2 - Is that the symptom of the buggy FastRAD, or am I just "S.O.L.?"

Tnx mucho every1. U R all GREAT!

DueE,
Looking forward to your info re buggy Fast Rad.

Norstar Manager does not work with NRU 9.0. If you want to back up these older systems you have to continue to use NRU 8.1 for norstar manager. Nortel is aware of the bug and plans to fix it in NRU 9.1. If you have a newer rad it will work on this 8x24.

Nortel has identified an intermittent issue in logging on to systems after connecting via NRU...affected units can be either the FastRAD-NT8B80AR-93 or the subsequent up-issued FastRAD2-NT8B80AAAB. Our techs were not able to connect
using N*Mgr using these RADS. Using NT8B80AAAB Rel 03 or greater, we have no problem w/N*Mgr, using 9.0, however, some laptops need to use N*Mgr 3.7 instead of 3.5.

Thanks.

I can't win for losing, though. I uninstalled NRU 9.0 (which ran fine on XP) and installed 8.1. Manager now gets a "Divide by 0" error and bombs. I assume it's an XP issue, which Nortel fixed in 9.0. Guess I'll just have to wait for 9.1.

(sigh)

;-)

XP is based on Windows NT and in order to run Norstar Manager on NT it needs to be 3.7 so I would imagine the same applies for XP

I agree with lowradiation. The error message of "Divide by 0" is the message I got when using N*Mgr 3.5. Since loading 3.7, I don't get that error or have any trouble.

I got one question ...How the heck do you get N/M 3.7
when we ordered our last CD's NRU 9.0 it came with N/M 3.5

Is there a site where I can download 3.7 or can someone email me the .exe for it .
my email is mario.mazza@pacesettercorp.com
thanks

Boy, this has turned out to be a lively thread! My NRU 9.0 came with N/M3.5 also, so I could use a link or .EXE too.
Thanks.

N*Mgr 3.7 is available on NRU page of the ITAS website, which has now been merged with the Partner Information Center site. If you purchased a mantenance agreement when you purchased NRU 9.0, they will provide it as part of the agreement.

I have problems with nortel because. Since I am not a certified nortel installer or dealer they are real crapy about suppling info to us end users.
Do you have a link to the site so I can call the Company we bought NRU 9.0 from so I can see why we wern't given that info.
I wish just once Nortel would release there code to allow a third part vendor to write a programm for there systems (seems like they struggle at it)
Thanks DueE

It's a protected site. An ITAS tech told me about 3.7 during a support call and they also had a tech support bulletin regarding the problem with 3.5 on fast processors. The 3.7 was posted on the ITAS support site for distributors that have access but since they merged the sites I can't find anything.

How do you get that star to appear everytime you make a post?
DueE

thanks DueE
as for the star I aint sure someone must have marked one of my replys as helpful is all I can think of .. If you find a tip helpful Please take a moment to mark it as such.
