I have an IP office in a lab environment and I've always loved the 8434 digital set. I am considering adding one, will it work on the IP office? I know it's not supported. Does it need a special power supply?

I doubt that it will work but it is worth a shot if you have one just plug in and let us know :)

84xx phones, with 4400D, and 6402D were blocked after R3.
If memory serves Me right, I did have 8410D working on R2.1, ( maybe R2.0 ) but that was many years ago.
Try plugging Your 8434 set, let Us know the results, as I am curious.
You will need a power supply, as the florescent Display gets power from pins 7 & 8.

I can confirm the following:

I had an IP 403 Control Unit running IPO R3.2 and the 8434DX I have did not register with the system. Though it did do Touch Tones when I went off hook.

R4 is the most interesting. I upgraded to an SOE R4.1 and the 8434 can make calls, receive calls, dial out, be part of a ring AND a paging group, but none of the 34 buttons work nor can the display work even with a 1151 power brick. Its essentially an oversized single appearance terminal. The 8 fixed feature buttons work as described.

Can someone else confirm that 8400 (both the 8434 and 8410) sets can run prior to R3? I know R3 also introduced the Definity-styled call appearances, can I do a workaround on R2? I have several sets and would love to reuse them w/out trying to get an S8300 + Gx50 and dealing with them licenses and paying $$$$$s for the CM s/w.
