Many times the reason U get message waiting lights on improperly "on" a phone is because users accidently do the LW calling activating Feature Access Code. To avoid this U can remove the Feature Access Codes for LWC as long as your voice mail or other application doesn't use the LWC codes.
Most installation techs put the codes in there even though they aren't going to be used.
If u have a Intuity voice mail u can tell if it needs the LWC Feature access codes by seeing if u have a link. If u do "list com links" and there is a link for Intuity, and it is being used, then the Intuity is not using the LWC Feature codes.
If you want to know what the message was and who did it,
add a "cov-msg-rt" button to your phone.
When you push it it will ask you "whose messages", just enter the extension number that has the problem.
When you also add a delete button, you can also remove the message from your station,Next button enables you to scroll through.
To be able to do this you need to put yourself in the "System-wide Retrieval Permission" list in the "system-parameters features" form.
When you remove LWC alltogether, you also lose 'call-list' functionality if you use that.
