What are you exactly trying to make work? The phone or the data module? If you are trying to use the data module what are you hooking it up to? Let me know and I will try to help.

Hi,
the first problem may be not correct registers settings of 8400B data module. Try to connect a PC to the com port and make the command ats24? from a terminal programm.
Then you can enter ats24=1 to work without telephone or ats24=0 to work with telephone.
after that you can try to dial number by ATD... command.
