What is the procedure for pale stripes when the light stripes test shows all jets are functioning properly ?

I have cleaned the wiper and the white release blade.

In the past, the problem has cleared itself up but only after a lot of wasted prints.

Eliminate Light Stripes is the Standard first step.

Are there any weak jets? The bar would be moved up a little and some times hard to see that it is wrong. (especially in the yellow)

Some times a piece of paper will get lodged, and rub against the drum. It can cause intermitent print quality problems.

If it is duplexing check the paper preheater.

I wonder if this could be the problem with the kick plate on the 8400. Xerox had to redesign it because of failure. It does cause image quality problems, because the kick plate it responsible for livting the cleaning blade and oil roller to the drum. Below is something I posted in another 8400 topic.

Xerox has a known issue on some of the earlier 8400 where this pivot plate will crack, and prevents the oil drum from making good contact with the drum. One way to check if you have the old pivot plate, is to remove the Oil Roller, and look inside the hole where the roller goes. Look to the front of the printer in this hole. The old style pivot plate is white. The new style is black. It's pretty easy to change out if it's just the pivot plate. Xerox advised me that the cam shaft is also prone to breaking due to the failure of the pivot plate.

Now for the good news. If you do have the old style Pivot Plate, Xerox will cover this repair under warranty, even if the printer is out of it's warranty period. You can take it to your Xerox Service Center and have them do the work.

If there is a problem with the kick plate, you should see print quality issues in all colors. Not just one. This would be easy to tell from the diagnostics pages (which jet is blocked, or if there's another problem).

Like TCouch said, if there is a problem with this plate, Xerox will replace it under warranty, even when the machine is not covered by warranty anymore. But I highly doubt this is going to be your problem.

If you are not able to get the missing jet back by doing the clean for light stripes procedure and turning the machine off overnight. There is also an option called "jet substition". On the older models, a unrecoverable jet would mean printhead replacement (=expensive). From the 8400 onwards you can use the jet substition option, making the printer slower but preventing an expensive printhead replacement, if you're out of warranty.
