Hello all,

I have a Phaser 840 and upon powering up I get the error message:

09,007,42:37589

According to infoSmart on Xerox's website, 09,007,42 means a problem with the Yellow ink sticks and suggests removing and replacing the ink sticks. I've tried this but the same error message returns. I sent them an e-mail but they only replied with an answer stating that I would need service (duh!) and gave me the rates on how much it would cost! The charges would be $290 for the 1st hour plus $55 for each additional 15 minutes not to mention parts and taxes!!! LOL

How do you like that?! They can't tell me what actually is wrong with the machine but they can certainly tell me how much it will cost!

I was wondering if anybody could shed some light on this error message. I'm particularly interested in what the suffix 37589 would mean if anyone has a service manual. Thanks in advance! Any help would greatly be appreciated!

The "37589" is just the page count of your printer and is appended to all of the error codes. I would suggest removing the yellow stick and checking to make sure there are no ink pieces at the very front of the slot that may be blocking movement of the inkstick into the melting plate. If there is blockage there, take a flat-tipped screwdriver and remove these pieces. You may need to sit down and then restart the printer to clear the error message. Good luck! Steve

An ink stick jam will be declared three times before you can determine that the loader is faulty, obviously checking
inktek99's idea
the P/N for the ink loader is :-650-4025-00

If you look in the ink loader, there are these plastic T shaped peices that push against the ink. These have gray pads on them. The pads can easily come off and make their way to the front. Once they reach the heater, they tend to melt and stick to the heater plate. Just scrap it off.

If there is nothing stuck to the heater plate and nothing causing the ink to not move forward, then replace the ink loader. It is a very easy task.
