We have done our sync in SMS to do a software update for the latest patch and it is not available when going through the Distribute updates wizard. Has anyone else used this to creat a package and is it available for you?
Also, can someone tell me where these are stored or how to tell what updates you have in your database? Thanks

Its been released today

xml file location as follows
C:\Program Files\SecurityPatch\PkgSource\1033\mssecure.cab
but it depends where you chose to install the update tool

updates in the catalogue can also be viewed via Software Updates otion under Site Database

I also use the following query to list what updates each of my machines require

select Client.Name, Client.LastLogonUserName, SMS_G_System_PATCHSTATE.Product, SMS_G_System_PATCHSTATE.Title, SMS_G_System_PATCHSTATE.QNumbers, SMS_G_System_PATCHSTATE.Status from SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_PATCHSTATE on SMS_G_System_PATCHSTATE.ResourceID = SMS_R_System.ResourceId inner join SMS_R_System as Client on Client.ResourceId = SMS_G_System_PATCHSTATE.ResourceID where SMS_G_System_PATCHSTATE.Status != "Installed" order by Client.Name

When a new security update come out from Microsoft, the first step is to download the MSSECURE.cab. It sounds like you've already performed this step.

The second step is to have your clients discover that they need this new patch. So, send out an advertisement to run the SUS scanner on your computers. SMS WON'T LET YOU CREATE THE SUS PACKAGE IF THE PACAKGE IS NOT NEEDED BY ANY OF YOUR CLIENTS. Therefore, it is necessary to send out a SUS scan with your new cab file so that applicable software patches can be found.

Once SMS has detected a need for the patch, you can create the SUS package...

-hope this helps...
