Sorry for open a new post, but after several days, still confused about the sequence.
Here is my question again: 2 columns, 8 shelves, AC power in each shelf, 2 power break at the back bottom of each column

[ IPE ] [ IPE ]
[ CPU ] [ IPE ]
[ CPU ] [ NET ]
[ MM ] [ IPE ]

1.When I turn down the power, which one will be the first? The power break at the back bottom of CPU column?

2. If 1 is true, do I need to turn off the power break in each shelf? (even the column power has already been shut down)

My confusion is, if you only turn off the power break at the back bottom of columns, how to make it possible that only cpu shelves power up before others?

Thanks,

yes, the rear of the cab.. cpu's 1st.. and they come up last

Thanks John,

I heard some one "remind" that DO NOT touch those AC powers break...but unfortunately, we have AC power...

do as john said power down with the breakers on the
back of the columns DO NOT power down the power supplies
in front on shelfs.

no problems only solutions

strmwalker is correct, however the power supply issue was more prevalent with DC..... also, in your diagram you are missing a net shelf. I would power off the mail seperately since it's in the same column as the CPU's, let them boot first and then bring the mail up, be sure no tapes are in the drive

Then the sequence I need to do is

1. shut down sequence:
CPU column-the back bottom power breaker
IPE column-the back bottom power breaker

2. turn on sequence:
IPE column-the back bottom power breaker
CPU column-the back bottom power breaker

NO need to touch any power breaker in each shelf?

Am I right?
