I know very little about EDI, and the company I work for wants to take data from an EDI file and parse it to a delimited text file. I have seen several translators on the web, but not many make reference to 811. Which translator would better suit our needs for translation and mapping to delimited text files? Would this be an app that I should attempt to build myself or would this be an app that should be purchased?

Thanks in advance.

I am very familiar Gentran Server for Windows NT. It will allow you to translate among others, EDI files to Postional & Positional to EDI. It comes with the Mapping software needed to create a map to receive the 811. The product is not intuitive, especially if you are not very familiar with edi, so I would recommend the Mapping and Translation course offered by Sterling Commerce as it will get you familiar with the product and EDI essentials.

What details of how the product works do you want to know?

Thanks for your response. EDI files and translators. I have very little experience with EDI and could use all of the advice I can get.

You can try Ediware from B-Data.com. It is easy to setup and will definitely do the job you require.
