We have an 8000DN printer installed on an NT4 server using PCL 6 driver. The problem is if you look at the document defaults tab of the printer on the server, the "Source is" tab is greyed out so you can't change it. The result is when you print to it you can't sect which tray to print from and it comes out from default tray 4. Any ideas.

Thanks

Hi ya !!

I had This Problem with all my 4000's and 4050's that have multiple trays.

My Only Solution was to drop the PCL driver and use PostScript.

Hope it solves your problem, like it did ours.

I am having this same problem when trying to select a tray using a vb app and the printer object. have you solved this problem.

did u try setting each tray thru the setup panel on the printer itself??? It's been a while since I've touched an 8000DN..

I tried setting up through the printer control panel. Trouble is the printer driver settings always seem to override the actual printer settings, and because the driver settings keep changing, it doesn't work. Does anyone know of making the printer settings override all others?

This is just a shot in the dark, but does the driver "know"
what trays are installed?

There was an NT box here a while back, and the duplexor
on the LJ5K was grayed out at runtime until we went
into the "printer properties" and declared the existence
of the duplexor.
