I had a persistent problem where 1 of 5 DID calls would hit dead air for 15 secs, then get a busy signal. All 8 DID trunks were affected. I replaced the 800 DID card but no luck. I knew it was my equipment - . I did a search on what do here and it WORKED!!

See MERLINMAN - you rock!!!! thread689-104529

I asked SBC to switch the signal from TOUCHTONE to ROTARY. In SBC language, that "DTMS" to "DIAL-POSTING". I did the same in WinSPM after they finally made the switch.

It took them 4 days to have their translations dept to do it. I was totally pissed it took so long but I'm now happy that all my incoming DID calls go thru (although it takes a few secs longer).

Thanks to everyone here that contributes to this forum.

Was it a bad TTR?
I had a similiar problem but it turned out to be a problem with telco.

Thanx for the kind words.

I was wondering if the TTR's were tested, though.

I did not test the TTRs. How exactly do you test them?

The problem happened after wide area power outage in LA. The other matter that's not fixed is an 007 MLM 4-port issue. Message Indicator lights are on when their is no VM. Lights off sometimes when there is. Users reports that they don't get actual VM messages until hours after they are left.

Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

BTW: I now have a high-quality UPS attached to the system.

Testing TTR's..

Step 1) Determine how many you have:

012 Mod = 2
MLM-007 = 2
400 Gs/Ls = 4

There are several cards that have differing numbers of TTR's.

OK, once you figure out how many you have, then you test them like this:

From INTERCOM, dial *04,01 (for the first one) then 1232456789*0#.

At that point, you should hear 2 or 3 beeps (either one is OK).

If you do not get convirming Beeps, you got a bad one!

Repeat the process increasing the *04,0_ VALUE by 1 each time, until you do not hear what you should.

AS REGARDS TO YOUR MESSAGE LIGHTS NOT WORKING PROPERLY, I am pretty much convinced that YES, YOU DO HAVE A BAD TOUCH TONE RECEIVER in your system somewhere.

The reason I think that is 2 fold.

First, the D-I-D problem and now the Message Light Problem.

You were able to fix the D-I-D problem by ELIMINATING the TTR's from the picture, yet, your MESSAGING LIGHT PROBLEM remains.

That kinda' points a rather LARGE Finger at the Guilty party.

Please post results of TTR Tests.

On more thing, the TTR test has to be done at a Tip/Ring...analog...single line set. You can't perform this test from a digital phone.

Yes jinxs, I forgot that one critical instruction.

Thanx!

Thanks for the instructions! I will test them later today and post the results.
What can you do to fix a TTR?

Replace the module it is in.

I have had to do that a few times.

Ok. I tested the TTR ports as instructed (from an analog port - which was a fax line).

*04,01 (for the first one) then 123456789*0#.

Here's what I got:

01 - 04 GOOD
05 - 06 BAD
07 - 10 GOOD

This is my equipment list from WinSPM.

408 GLM-U
408 GLM-U
800 GL-ID
800 GS/LS
800 DID

008 MLX-U
008 MLX-U
012 (this is the 4-port MLM 007)
016 TRR
408 GS/LS MLX
800 DID

Can you list the # of TTRs each card has?
Thanks for all your help!!

I will onlyh list the TTRs for the Haves, not the Have Nots.

CARD #of TTRs
408 GLM-U
408 GLM-U
800 GL-ID 2
800 GS/LS
800 DID 2

008 MLX-U
008 MLX-U
012 MLM 2
016 TRR 4
408 GS/LS MLX
800 DID 2

This puts numbers 5&6 right smack dab in the MLM-007.

You could try a board renumber and/or a Power Off & ON.

Also, look at your error log and see if it knows anything.

Dis-regard any mention of the TTRs at 2 or 3 in the morning though.
