We have seperate audix systems in each of our offices. Users used to be able to *8 to transfer to subscribers outside their own audix. However one of our audix systems had a melt down and had to be rebuilt. Now when people do *8 they can't go to subscribes outside of their system. It used to work.

If that makes sense, what do I have to do to add that functionality back in?

network both audix back together

I have no technical solution to your management problem

Look on the "System parameters features" page 3. Under Transfer Out, change the settings to what you need...HIGH SECURITY RISK

In the future everything will work...

It seems to me there is command "get Remote-Updates" that goes out and updates the remote subscriber lists. U have to have the remote machines in first, I believe.

P.S. For the best response to a question, read FAQ222-2244. Also give the type & version of your voice mail & pbx & preview your post to make sure it is complete & understandable. Please answer all questions so that I may have the info to assist you. Leaving a post on how you fixed the problem will also be appreciated.

I see under page 3 of system-parameters features under transfer restrictions there are 2 options, subscribers and digits.

It seems like I would want digits because then it would transfer to any 4 digit extension instead of just subsribers on that audix system. However, it says that before changing to digits to contact the TSC. Is there something I have to watch out for because of security? Also would that even fix my problem?

Before the meltdown, were the subscribers able to send messages from their mailboxes to the subscribers on the other voice mail systems? If they were able to, then they were 'remote subscribers' and you need to put those 'remote machines' back into the Intuity.
Avaya use make customers sign a paper when they changed the 'subscribers only' to 'digits'. That is how big of sucurity problem it can be if u don't know how to 'lock down' the Intuity and Definity to avoid toll fraud.

Thanks orypecos, the picture is becoming clearer. Forgive my ignorance becasue our former Telecom person just retired and I just took this position over.

Previously, nobody could forward VM's to remote offices, but could transfer out to an extension. I would think that to fix that would be to change to digits. How could toll fraud be used since digits will only tansfer 4 digit calls (which is our dialplan)? It seems someone trying to transfer out couldn't get anyywhere except our internal extensions. Am I understanding this correctly and would "digits" even fix my problem? Hopefully there is a more secure way.

At Avaya they use to have a file of who has a letter on file from the customer(you or your company) that authorized 'digits' instead of 'subscribers'. They probably still have the file. You might try calling in and finding out if your company had requested the change to 'digits'. It is kinda a 'luck of the draw' when you call into Avaya Technical Service Center. I know that you can get a technician that just stonewalls you and won't help you. Hopefully you will get one that will.
Depending on many things 'digits' can still get out of your system. If they try to dial 911 or 9xxx they might get to the outside network. There are customers that have 'digits' set up in all the tens of Intuitys and never have tollfraud related to that. But their telephone systems protect them by carefully setting up the ARS and AAR software.
I believe that changing it to digits will solve your problem, but not in the best way.
