Can anyone point me to best practices and/or preferred anti virus software for windows based VM Pro machines? Not having much luck with Google or the Avaya Support Site. This forum always seems quicker and more accurate. Thanks!

Unless it's required for remote access and no other method is available we don't put any AV on at all. Because we install on a dedicated PC/server that is only for VM (as should always be the case), as such it doesn't need Internet access or windows updates, it's a zero risk machine at that point and they tend to run forever :)

Agreed and this customer has been running without for a few years and now its an urgent situation and they want it. I am hoping there is some documentation to reference if AV does get loaded. The CS1000 Call pilot has an guide for what is supported. Hoping the IPO has something usefull.

Never seen a compatibility list. And in my opinion it wouldn't make sense because the development of AV software is too fast to test each with Avaya applications.

Agreed again. But is there something that AVAYA has distributed to show what ports or files to not scan? Something at least?

It's also their IT's decision to make, you can't become responsible for the security of a single device just because it runs Avaya software on it, it's still their kit. Tell them what ports need to be open and that the VM pro service needs to be trusted and let them crack on.

I agree again and they have their own corporate AV. Is there something that tells what ports need to be open and what files need to not be scanned?

Scanning the files is no issue, the ports used are detailed in the FAQ's for this forum, or just Google it :)

There is actually an IPO 9.1.0.0 Port Matrix Doc at the AVAYA support sight that I just found.

It's always been recommended that you disable active scanning of any Avaya directories with your A/V.
