Hi Cisco experts.

I have a Cisco 7960 at home that I am using on a SIP platform with voip.ms, a 3rd party SIP carrier.

After I registered the phone last night, the DID and outgoing calls worked perfectly. After 5 mintues, the telephone no longer accepts incoming calls.

Is there a way to correct this?

Thank you,

Joe

Cisco phones are very difficult to work with third party SIP servers!
Trying different firmwares on the phone should help!

You may want to ensure that on the device page at the bottom you are using CDP as oppose to LLDP;Cisco uses their own protocol.

Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP): Switch Port Enabled
Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP): PC Port Enabled
Link Layer Discovery Protocol - Media Endpoint Discover (LLDP-MED): Switch Port Disabled
Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP): PC :disabled

What SIP firmware are you using? Once you are no longer able to get incoming calls what does Wireshark the call say?

Hello all, thank you for you insightful and helpful device.

I have solved most of my problems with the 7960, knock on wood.

I put the correct information in the SIP authentication tabs based on a technical call with my SIP provider and the phone booted up.

I was experiencing the 5 minute drop in DID's into the phone and then the VOIP.MS company checked my server and adjusted the problem and it works great now.

I was also losing all calls to area code 219 after 30 minutes and again, their tech. support person changed some call server routings and corrected the problem.

Besides the outdated Cisco logo on my phone, the phone works great. I'd like to bring the new Cisco Logo onto my phone display....can anyone help me with how to do that?
I want the lowercase Cisco letters with the new simpler "Golden Gate" symbol. If anyone can help me with that, I'd like to tackle that project over the weekend.

Thank you!

Joe
