7941G with Avaya IP Office 9+

We are attempting to register a Cisco phone to an Avaya IP office. I wish this was not the case, however its best effort at this point. My assumptions are that we need to update the cisco phone with sip firmware along with adding a third party sip endpoint license to the IP Office. I've registered plenty of polycom sip endpoints to IP Office but never Cisco. Has anyone had success with this? Care to share how you did it?
 
As you know the IPO side is easy, create an extn and user, give it a password...done, no different to the Polycoms :)

Thank you for the replies. I have a pretty good understanding of what needs to happen on the IP Office to allow registration. On the cisco side we have uploaded the correct sip firmware and are looking at what exactly needs to be done with the XML files. Do we need custom XML files for each 7941 to register?
 
We aren't Cisco phone experts, so perhaps asks those that might know better :)

 
I think you might need custom files per phone. Like amriddle said - we don't know Cisco phones. But IIRC, the one time I tried, I think CUCM basically manages a big TFTP server and everything you do per device ends up making unique files for the set and the phone requests "MY_MAC_ADDRESS.xml".

I don't know Cisco phones at all, and maybe I'm wrong. But regardless, you're trying to make two vendor's gear play nice together and they only make it automagically work together when you're only using their stuff. So, yeah, expect to break it down to a level you'd rather not have to just to get basic dial tone, conference and transfer working.
