Please please please help, im going crazy!, I cannot get my Cisco 761m router to accept incoming messages from video chat software, the example below is on software called ispq, you will find my question, and configuration, I really need this sorted please im getting sleepless nights:
Ive just set up a router (Cisco761M) through a hub to connect to the internet via ISDN, I am the only user on the hub. I use WinXP, my problem is as follows, when I try to use videochat software e.g ISPQ I cannot receive messages only send, following is my configuration and ISPQ's reply:
I have a home network with a static IP address of 172.16.1.1 assigned to my PC and a Cisco ISDN router with address 172.16.1.252 on the Ethernet port; of course the default gateway on my PC is 172.16.1.252. The outgoing connection on my ISDN is via a static ip address. The direct connection is therefore on the outgoing connection of the ISDN router, but all IP traffic should be forwarded to my PC, which is the job of the router. I do not use a proxy server or use a firewall to block ports 2000 onwards. Knowing this configuration detail, what do I need to do to make iSpQ communications work properly?
Note the isp is ok as the software works fine through 56k connection
...reply:
Hello from iSpQ support Ian.

While we do not offer support for configuring home networks or routers, we can tell the user how iSpQ works and hopefully this will help them configure their set up appropriately.

iSpQ Quick Messages (QMs) are sent from user to user via direct connection. In order to receive iSpQ QMs, you must be able to directly connect with other iSpQ users and receive data on ports 2000-2003.

If you use a firewall, ensure that ports 2000-2003 are unblocked to receive incoming data directed to your external internet IP address from any outside IP address. Some Internet Service Providers (ISP) may block some or all ports between 2000-2003 by default, so please check with your ISP to ensure these ports are not blocked.

If you use a proxy, you may need to bypass or disable the proxy for iSpQ to function properly.

If you are running a home network your network must be able to accept incoming data on ports 2000-2003 sent to your external internet IP address directly from the senders IP address. Your network must also be configured to forward this incoming data to the machine on your network that is running iSpQ. You will only be able to use iSpQ on one machine on your network if all machines are sharing the same external internet IP address.

WOW, I would do away with the 700 series router and go with a 800 series. The reason why is that 700 is not a very reliable router and they are being discontinued. You cannot even vpn across a 700 series so I can see you having problems. Jeter@LasVegas.com

So are you saying its not possible to videoconference with a 761m router?, I find that hard to believe
I find it reliable, and this is the only issue I have had with it.

I got this from the cisco web site.

: If I have four SPIDs for my BRI and a video device connected to my 760, will the 760 drop the B channel so the video device can use it?

A: It is possible to have an ISDN line with eight SPIDs (since you can have up to eight ISDN devices on a S/T multidrop interface). So you can have a four-SPID line with two being assigned to the 7xx and two being assigned to a video-conferencing device. However, regarding bandwidth contention (such as if the video device wants to use the B-channel), the 700 Series router will not currently release that channel. This is true for code releases 4.0(2) and earlier.

From what I see by this question you would need a
video device hooked up to the router. The cisco web site
for the 700 series routers gives no information on video conferencing.

This doesnt make sense, video software eg does not need an additional channel to work it utilises the one in use.
Spids also do not apply to England (where I live)
It looks like a simple fact of needing IP forwarding somehow, but I dont know where or how with the 761m.
I managed to email a Cisco techie guy today so hopefully i will get a reply before I waste anymore time on this!

Its ok for you guys in Vegas, cable everywhere no doubt!
