7410 phone "scanning"

I was given a 7410 phone from a customer who said it no longer works. I hooked it up and get a "scanning" on the cordless display that will not go away. The phone works fine (base), but the cordless is the problem. Is there a way to clear or reset this, or do i basically have another programming phone.

Go into security code and enter pswrd 000000 then enter any security, I use 111111 for handset 1 and 222222 for handset 2 etc. then unplug base for 10 secs, then plug back in and send the code to the base station with 10 seconds. Aslo make sure it says Hanset #1 in option 7 I think.
