Has anyone installed 7.6.400 sp B yet?

I don't really like being on the 'bleeding edge' with a new release. Appreciate any feedback.

Thanks!

Jim

Yes I have, but none of my customers yet. Is there something new or a particular bug fix in spB that is of interest to you?

Yes, there are a couple bug fixes. One was submitted over 2 years ago, so we have learned to live with it.

We are still running on Pervasive 2000i so I get a little nervous each upgrade that we are going to have problems.

Thanks for the feedback.

I would be very reluctant to update as you are running a non-supported environment.

Is there some reason you have not updated to SQL yet?

We have installed it to fix a bug.
Macola Progression 7.6.400b running on a mssql server.
No issues yet.

"You haven't lived until you update to trade a large bug for many small ones"

We haven't upgraded to SQL because I can't justify the cost. To spend $15k to $20k and still be stuck with an applicaton (Macola/Progression) that words cannot describe without expletives.

If I were to upgrade now, I would also move to a new application. Since I am not ready to take the time to do that right now, I will limp along.

I assume you were joking when you mentioned "supported" application. I don't believe it is in Macola's vocabulary.

62chev,

You will get so much more out of Macola Progression when you move to SQL.

I too doubted the value of moving to SQL but it has given us improved performance and the ability to better manage our data and also use the system to better fit our needs.

I know it doesn't seem like a db change could have that much impact, but it can.

Also, you should get a better response on your issues when you are using the current version and current db. Although, that does depend on your business partner / reseller relationship.

Kstickler,

I don't doubt from a performance standpoint SQL with be much better than running on Pervasive. Unfortunately performance is not an issue.

Lack of support for bug issues (2 year turn around on latest fix), poor customization environment (Flexibility - another oxymoron), most bug issues don't get addressed period etc. etc.

It may be obvious, but I'm not overly impressed with Macola as a product. Our reseller feels Macola ES is worth taking a look at. My only fear is the product is only as good as the support behind it and so far I am not impressed with Exact.

Maybe others have better luck getting issues resolved?

Appreciate the feedback.
