OK - aside from the Hot Topics that correct various problems, here's some other 7.6.300 'functional disenhancements' to watch for:

The drill down to view order details for open customer orders in multi-level item view is broken. Macola haven't posted this as a 'Hot Topic' yet, so you'll need to get the fix from Exact support or your reseller.

I couldn't find this info. anywhere in the upgrade instructions but you MUST initialze the new tables on the third tab of the initialize distribution/order entry screen. When you do, it will not only initialze the tables, but also create the tables that makes the new booking reports possible. It appears that the initialize function runs through open and invoiced orders and creates a new table that summarizes this info. This can take a CONSIDERABLE amount of time depending on how many invoiced orders you have in history (4 hours on one site). If you don't do this step, you'll get errors when printing invoices.

I'll add more as I find more...

Peter,

Amazing. So an initialize command doesn't really initialize, instead it BUILDS something.

I'm losing it.

So are you saying the fix is to "initialize" these tables and there is no download per se? Please clarify.

These tables are ones added by Peak in Best of OE. Instead of a menu item like load oe master view for generic macola, they instead use the initialize routine to build the oepdshdr & oepdslin files. Not sure why this approach, but there are a whole page of files that are added by peak's enhancements.

Yep - and it's not consistent with other areas of Macola i.e. consolidated order view. After the upgrade, the first person that tries to enter an order will be promted to initialize the bookings file - if they answer yes, the process will run through all of the history and open orders and create the booking table. Strangely enough, if you then go to system manager and try to initialize all BUT the bookings file, it recreates it anyway. Oh and by the way, don't try to write any reports off the new tables if you're on Pervasive, Exact forgot to add the new tables to the DDF's.

Thought I'd add a summary of the 7.6.300 hot topics and problems to date - if anyone else encounters any, add them here for all to see....

HOT TOPIC Invoices printing for orders with a status of 1.
HOT TOPIC ICR Reports - Reports Only Display an Hourglass
HOT TOPIC Pervasive Visual Menu Builder Automation error.
HOT TOPIC Cannot Call Program 'GUIUTIL'.
HOT TOPIC Schema check failed SQL on a Windows 2003 server.

Bug - Multi-level IM view, cannot drill to OE order details.
Bug - New bookings tables not in Pervasive DDF's.
Bug - PO costs do not show up in PO Views.

Not a hot topic, or a bug - but first open of OE Enter Orders forces initialization and creation of bookings table (OEPDSHDR) - this can take some time.

Wow.. And why would you upgrade knowing all these problems? I'm still using 7.6.103 and we are working fine. No way am I going to risk down time for us, just so that we have the 'latest' version.

Actually - given that I've done a 'fresh' install on one client, and five updates (all from 7.6.200) on other clients (some with MS/SQL, some with Pervasive), I don't think it's too bad. Compared to 7.6.200, the amount of problems have been minimal - heck, even compared to some of the updates prior to 7.6.200, I don't consider the number of problems that have been identified to be excessive. Of course, it's early days yet....

The power inquiry alone is worth the upgrade as well as the price lookup for sites that actually use price codes as well as the generate POs from OE that far surpasses Macola OE-PO integration. I'm still waiting for the dust to settle before installing at a live site, since I'm not sure macola has properly integrated peak's code into theirs. Peak has always supplied ddfs for their added tables & I have written reports off them, but there are some issues with the payroll files in the peak ddfs. We really need to have the 2 combined.

We are grateful you all are getting a summary of this issue together. We found quite a few niggling problems with 7.6.200 which has made us sceptical of moving onto 7.6.300 in any hurry. We are having our user group meeting in Sydney next week where we intend to review 7.6.300. Thanks for the heads up. Keep us informed.

We are going to be testing the total order pricing by product category this week with another client. I will keep you posted and wish me luck.

This may have been a 'one off' but I ended up spending the best part of three days trying to get 7.6.300 to function properly at a Novell site that I recently upgraded to 7.6.300. The symptoms were weird - people would be working OK, then all of a sudden any new screens they opened in Macola would not contain any images (search buttons, note buttons, toolbar buttons), and the screens would be about two feet wide (I kid you not). If they closed Macola and tried to log back in, they'd get Panels2 errors using regular explorer. After a short time, things would return to normal and we could not find any event or pattern as to why this was happening. Macola could offer no solution. We eventually gave up and installed Macola and Pervasive on a Windows server. It may have been an isolated incident related to the client site and NOT Novell, but I thought I'd mention it 'just in case'...

I have seen the wide screens before and I do no tthink this is related o 7.6.300. They had me replace some .dlls to fix this.

Don - yep it was a known 'functional disenhancement' in 7.6.200.5 - in this version it would happen if people tried to open the same app. multiple times - the fix was a new screenm.dll. We tried this on the Novell site without success.

Found another one....

If you have OE but not PO, you'll run into a problem. Entering sales orders in OE will give you errors that PO files are not found. 7.6.300 expects certain PO files/tables to be present even if you're not registered for PO. The catch 22 is that you cannot simply initialize the PO tables, because the PO initialize function will not run (because you're not registered for PO). Exact have ackowledged this as a 'bug'. The workaround is top copy in the tables from the demo company using explorer (Pervasive) or DTS (MS/SQL). Another option is to temporarily turn PO on in demo mode, long enough to initialze the PO files. This option will only work if the underlying PO DLL's and PO screens are present.

FYI, if you have payroll and labor performance you need the following msl update with 7.6.300.

prlpwrk3_sql.msl (updated 4/22/04) rename the existing msl

There is also an issue with Labor Performance, it not calculating overtime correctly. (based on 40 hour work week)
All hours are passed to payroll and regular time.

Peter,

Any update on the AP Aging report issue?

I only have a few 7.6.300 sites but none have had an issue with the AP aging report yet.
