7.0 Web Publishing - Records per page 1

Hello again!

I have a report set up in 7.0 that has been published using the Web Publisher. The only problem I now have is that the report layout seems to be restricting each page to only 6 records. I understand that this is a limitation, but am wondering if there is anything I can do to get around this and have the report print as many records as it can fit on one page....

Your help is once again greatly appreciated.

Answer from FM about this :
'We set it to 5 records because we did not want to overburden users machines if they had a ton of records that could possible show up on a layout.'

They're protecting your equipment...thank you...

They limited it for the same reason they don't let you run reports in IWP and the same reason they limit 100 users in IWP.

Simple, short, to the point...

No...

..sorry...not yet...

...however...

...you can get a prety good list like view from the new table view.

Under the table view properties, include a header part and footer part if you want. Fix up your header your way and slam in any buttons for web scripts that you want.

In Filemaker use the layout to reorder the columns and resize them to match your header. Set the row custom height and add grid lines Horiz or Vert.

Now the magic. Turn off the stinking column headers... Now it looks like a list view and iwp will pump out 20 lines, not 5, not more or less....

It made me happy to find this solution. Hope it makes you happy too...

One more question if you don't mind....

How do I produce a report that displays more than one record per page. Even in list view, when i hit print, a page is displayed per record. I want to be able to see the 20 records on the screen as is (similar to an Excel spreadsheet). Is there any way to do this, either from the web or from within Filemaker itself?

Woops Jamie, I never had to go that far....

To do that I think you need a plug-in....

Take a look at :

With the IWP plugin you can perform scripts from the web,
or maybe with Fx.php.

I came that far in IWP, for what I need, with try and error...well...more error..;-)
