hi everyone, i really this has never been asked, don't wanna upset anyone...
i have a 6x16 dr5 system, i bought and had a tech install a c6 called id.

evrything works but in a weird way, i have 4 line with call hunt, my caller id only works in sequence, ex: call comes in on line 1 (cid works), calls come in on line 1 again, it doesn't work the second time until line 2, 3 and 4 all had calls.

also, it dosen't always display., i have set line 1 thru 4 to display on ext 23, i think im going crazy.....

if anyone could help, it would greatly appreciated...

You need CLID on every line from Telco. CLID will only display on one telephone as it comes in on the 2nd ring. Ftr811 will display on other telephones.

i do have caller id on all lines ($10/line) LOL, the C6 unit is bad, i think...

With today's economic state, I hate to preach spending money, but they'd do well to upgrade to a CICS.

What result do you get with Feature 811 with each line (as Deweyhumbolt suggested) ? What consistency/inconsistency ?

How is your group set up and on the station(s) you test F811, what are the ring&appear settings for each of the four lines ?

Have you tried swapping the C6 output to a different digital station port ?

Are your lines a regular telco "overline" delivered group or one of these "hunt" setups where each line has a number which is call forwarded to the next?

my lines are setup as hunt, line 1->2->3->4->1->etc...

the caller id works in a weird way, when the display shows the number, then F811 works, otherwise, it just says what line i'm on.

my phones are set to send the caller id to int 23.

i hope this is enought info.

thank you Arr and Misseditbythatmuch

So to clarify, did you do the hunt set up or did your telephone company?

You need to test the lines regardless of what the Telco states.
Try swapping lines 1 and 2 on the C6 and test.
You might have a bad C6, bad amp cable.
Also test with a test set at demarc and listen for the data CII signal between the first and 2nd ring....do to each line.

I tried a lab experiment to duplicate your issue.

Depending on how I tweaked the simulated call roll over, I did get some flaky caller ID results. This makes me suspect that the CO hunt arrangement may not be passing you the caller ID info properly on roll over calls.

Do you have an old caller ID display box or cheapo analog phone with caller ID display ? Can you bridge tap it in, like to line 2 or 3, and see if it receives caller ID info when a call rolls over?

I still deal with a handful of C6 units (which is why I had a spare in inventory), and my experience is that it either works or fails completely, in that I have not seen one develop a pattern of valid ID pass, no ID data, valid ID pass. I have seen station ports fail with intermittment problems, so as a second test, if you have another open port, swap the C6 to that port, power cycle, and see if the behavior changes.

Also agree with curlycord, if the C6 is not bridge tapped correctly to each line, it will not work properly on that line (e.g. if you use brown/white for line 2, line 2 will not display caller info; brown/white can only pass caller id info to line 4).

thank you curlycord and misseditbythatmuch, i am not as technical, but i do understand what you mean, i have another C6 coming, so i'll try that first, also, i tried caller id on line 1 and 4 with a regular phone and it worked perfect, i'll try line 2 and 3 monday, is it possible to get info on how to install the C6, i'll go thru it myself instead of calling the tech again.

thank you again guys, i really do honestly appreciate every bit of you help and advice, also, if i wanna by a new box, is cics like this one on ebay and will it display on all phones (M7310)

i hope it's ok to post a link.

Geddup,

When you tried the Caller ID on 1 and 4 did you make multiple calls on each line .. one after the other .. and did it then work perfect each and every time?

i thank you so much misseditbythatmuch, if you don't mind, i just wanna make sure i understand, the C6 is installed as if it were a phone set(ex: the port that would go to ext: 27) using the TCM connector, then, the 25 pair connector wires get tapped into the 4 phone lines coming into the box. but what colours from the 25 pair connector goes to line 1,2,3 and 4?

thank you again...

In your case it's different with a 6X16

All you need to do it tap the WB/BW pair from the C6 to the first line, then WO/OW for line 2, WG/GW for line 3 and WB/BW for line 4.

On the mod cords going to KSU use the Green and the Red only.

i would like to thank Arr, Misseditbythatmuch and Curlycord, you guys are awesome, again, thank you very much.
The Bell Canada tech hade the lines bridged wrong, he had the WBL/BLW going to line 4, then WO/OW for line 3, WG/GW for line 2 and WBR/BRW for line 1.

dare i ask one last question, am i mistaken by thinking that i can only have the name or numder show up on the display, but not both at the same time, is that correct?
