Guys,
I'm in a bit of a panic. Was trying to erase the config on my 6513 by typing;
erase startup config

but now the Switch is in ROMMON mode and I dont know how to get it back...!!!

Please help........

Thanks

Paul

thats because you erased the 'boot sup-flash: command from the startup config...

you need to 'dir bootflash:'
find the image name, and then tell the system to boot from it..

then once your up and working again, go into conf t and type 'boot sup-flash:'
then at least save that portion...

Bukweet,
I tried that and here's what happened;

rommon 2 > dir bootflash:
File size Checksum File name
43549768 bytes (0x2988448) 0x57be7762 s72033-jk9sv-mz.122-17d.SXB6.bin
rommon 3 > boot s72033-jk9sv-mz.122-17d.SXB6.bin
Loading image, please wait ...

Invalid device specified
Booting from default device

What next if anything?

Thanks

Phew.......

O.K. got her up by typing;

Rommon>boot bootflash: s72033-jk9sv-mz.122-17d.SXB6.bin

then when I got into enable mode went into conf t;

config>boot config bootflash:s72033-jk9sv-mz.122-17d.SXB6.bin

so now its up on one Supervisor, do I have to do the same with the other Supervisor?

Thanks

Paul

I think a more important question is this:

Why do you have a 6513 without SmartNET??

I'm assuming that you don't have SmartNET or you would just called Cisco first. Having a piece of equipment that big and that important without SmartNET is insane. :)

jneiberger,
what is SmartNET? It sounds important.

Thanks

LOL...

Pual,

You're a CCNA and don't know what SmartNET is? Didn't you read your CCNA box, its blasted over all the CCNA books I've ever seen..

Basically SmartNET is a support contract from Cisco. There is several levels of support that you can get from them. But if your device is out of warranty, you get no support from cisco unless you purchase SmartNET..

In addition, SmartNET can be fairly expensive depending on the product you're buying it for, but if you can afford a 6513 then you can afford the contract.

Actually, considering how expensive a 6513 is, not to mention all the pricey modules you put into it, you can't afford NOT to buy SmartNET, especially if the box is in production.

Is this a production box or a test box?

darn right smartnet can be pricey...

the company i work for spends well over 50 million a year in smartnet contracts...

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
