I'm trying to upgrade some of the old Dig. phones to something a bit more modern. Can i use the 6400 series phones just by adding a TN2181 card?
Switch is "G3siV4+m Software version G3V4i.07.0.007.1
Thanks....
Both 6408 telephones can be administered as themselves on a DEFINITY system
starting with Release 6.1 software. These telephones will NOT work with any
DEFINITY switch release prior to Release 6.1.
TN2181 will work on G3V4. I think TN2224 wasn't supported until a little later. The 8400 series phones on G3V4 were supported with 4 wire connections on TN754 cards AND via 2 wire connections on TN2181. Later releases support 8400 and 6400 phones via 2 wire on TN2181 or TN2224.
Look like G3v4.5+ runs tn2224. G3v4.7 should be good to go with tn2224 and 8410's. Hopefully you're trying to go from 7410 to 8410 and are not already running 8410's as they appear to be the latest you'll get to work on that load.
Thanks for the input. looks like the best I will be able to do with this version is to go with the 8410D or 8434D which it looks like like I'll need an external power supply. I only have a handful of Dig. sets on this Definity. Condo environment with 300 analog and about 10 dig. Dig. are all 7406+ now and I keep getting complaints on voice quality etc. Hopefully the 8410s will be a bit of an upgrade... Thanks again....
