Our company has a combination of 950s and 957s, and we're looking to try one of the newer models. The most appealing features being email/phone, tri-band, usb port... Does anyone have any experience with these and prefer one over the other?
Any feedback is appreciated.

We have mostly 950's. We are "testing" the 6230, although I believe it is an already-made decision. I find I can say some good about it, although the t-mobile signal comes and goes in the Los Angeles area. Hardest part about upgrading 1,000 users is deciding who gets the voice functionality and how to manage the accopanying charges. I've never touched the other model you mention.

We have a mix of 957s and 6710s, and I'm now testing a 7210. I'm expecting to get a 7230 to test in the next month.

Advantages of the 6710: Far larger screen size, thus less scrolling.

Advantages of the 7210: Easier keyboard, more ergonomically pleasing shape. Some people are impressed by the colors. I'm not. Drawback: LOTS more scrolling, even in menus.

The 7230 should have better reception and coverage in the US. If so, I expect we'll get a bunch of them during the next six months.

I hope that helps you.

6710 - Not colour. Larger screen. Web browsing experience isn't as nice. Serial. If you want to add things to the device such as card scanners etc then you need the serial connection.

7210/7230 - Colour, better web browsing experience. USB.

Do your users need tri-band?

If so the 7230 is tri-band device. 900/1800/1900

If you are running older OS versions then you will need the serial device (6710) since the USB won't work.

For the phone app you can remove the phone application before giving it to users that you don't want to have phone access.

We decided to test the 6230 since color is not a necessity and some users would benefit from tri-band, not all will need it.

So far talking volume on incoming calls without headset is not great.
Thanks for the feedback.

About half of our users find that the cell phone models require a headset, half think they are OK as is. I'm in the former group.

That applied to the 6710, I found the same with the 7210. It might even be worse without a headset.
