600E Recovery CD

I'm trying to get my old Think Pad 600E running again. Installed new HD, started up with boot floppy, ran Win98 recovery CD for Think Pad (which I had used with this machine before) and process crashes. Installed genreic Win 98 SE and it installs ok, but missing Think Pad drivers. Is it wrong to ask for a clean copy of recovery cd? Checked out IBM/Lenova site, nothing there. Have also downloaded Think Pad drivers and installed on top of 98SE, but machine is not liking it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
