6 min boot / install window

Hey all,

After entering my password at the login screen it takes about 6 min before I can launch a program such as IE. The task bar begins loading and loads about four icons. It then takes about 5 minutes before the last two -- Norton IS and AV -- load. Right before those last 2 load an installation progress window pop up briefly. I've tried disabling certain program within msConfig from starting at boot but no success.

Any insights as to why an installation window pops up and why it takes so long to load up?

Download and run Sysinternals AutoRuns:

http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/autoruns.shtml

Use this to check and disable any startup programs that are suspicious.

If you have any unused Network Adapters, disable them through Device Manager.
