When the “New in this Release” 6.0 NTP (NN43001-115 03.14) page 36 states that One Primary server and one backup security server is required.
Are the security servers actual additional servers that have to be place in the network or is it an application that is on the COTS servers?

If its actual servers; where are the server requirements discussed?

One server required for each Security Server (be it Primary, Backup or Member)

It´s an application that is on the COTS or CPPM Server.

I know with the cppm sec server use can make it co-res with the ss

Hi,
for small side the PUCM is a part of CPPM or COTS ( appl CS,SS,EM)

for big installation it is better to run PUCM and SUCM on separate Hardware

I'm in the middle of upgrading my sites to R6, and I have installed the Primary Security Server and Primary NRS on one COTS server, and the Backup Security Server, and Alternate NRS on another COTS server at a remote location.

I opted for this configuration since I already have standalone servers for both Primary and Alternate NRS. This configuration has been active, and in service for me for a couple months now with no issues.
