I have an IP500 4.2 and setup some VPN phones for a customer and can VPN into the site and receive calls and make out bound calls with no problem. My issue is that the display has some garbage running across the top, mixed in with the name and extension and none of my programmed buttons are showing up. If I go into Manager under Extensions, it show up as a 4624???

i have had this before you need to check all the ports are open at both sites and that the tftp files are updating properly, the files have not updated properly and the manager thinks the phone is something it is not.
