Hi,
I have a user that can't receive e-mail from a person from outside our network.
The outside person receives a bounce with this:
"553 Requested action not taken mailbox name not allowed"
I have searched for Error 553 and it seems to be a syntax problem with the e-mail addy.
The sender has an apostrophe in his address.
Could that be the problem with this?
Exchange 5.5 SP 4 on Win2K server SP2.

Thanks in advance,
Jamie

I too am having this same problem, i would like to know if there is any fix or known problem with exchange.

i am running exchange 5.5 sp4 on NT4.0 sp6a.

if anyone can help that would be much appreciated

I recall reading (somewhere?) that a space or odd character before the @ in an address will cause problems - I don't remember what the workaround is, though. Hopefully that's enough to get you headed down the path to the fix.
