Hi

Our main switch has reset today. I only know show logging command but it does not display before reset or the reason for resetting. What can i do?

Thank you

Under the 'System Characteristics' menu there should be a line that lists the last reset type.

I don't think the 5500 series has any non-volatile memory that would hold logs during a reboot.

You can setup a trap collector and/or a syslog collector that can hold long-term logs independantly of your equipment - but of course if the error causes the switch to reboot before the event gets sent you'll still be in the dark.

it writes :
Last Reset Type: Power Cycle

What are other parameters of last reset type?

What is the meaning of power cycle?

Thank you

I think Power Cycle is a catch-all meaning that the reboot wasn't under software control, as if you'd pulled out the power cord. These devices probably have a hardware watchdog that would reboot them if the microcode locked up, but I'm not sure how that would be registered.

I do know that if you'd upgraded the microcode or selected reset from the main menu it would have indicated that.
