Does anyone know why I am getting this error message?

Thanks

The following message could not be delivered to <chris.hickman@*****.co.uk>. The destination server reported: 550 Recipient Not Authorised [recipient rejected due to no authorised destination groups] From: <alison.barker@*****.co.uk> Subject: Motorola Training Confirmed

Hi I am having the same problem and it is with messages that are forwarded in Exchange. I have it set up like this

user *** in the GAL has his mail forwarded to an external SMTP email address that I created as an object. This has worked ok until we had to change the smart host.

I have set up the smarthost as mail.btconnect.com in the connector settings and also in the smtp virtual server settings in Exchange.

I now get the 550 Recipient Not Authorised [recipient rejected due to no authorised destination groups] error message.

Can anyone throw any light on this, it is only with forwarded messages from the GAL to external smtp addresses

Thanks in advance

kathy

Hi,

I am having an identical problem with this. Strangely it seemed to start after BTOpenworld told all of its clients to check that their servers where not acting as Open Relays.

Any solutions to this - Anyone!!!

Hi All.

i had the same problem.
The reason for this is because you are sending mail to the BT SMTP servers from your own domain name.

BT SMTP server will route mail from btconnect.com and btclick.com, but if you are sending mail from your own domain thats not hosted by BT, you have to contact BT to add your domain name to their SMTP relay.

This error does come back now and again; I will give this a try.

Thanks Suresh187

this is true.i was unable to send mail from my domain name until i called the bt helpdesk.i think it takes about 24 hours for the relay to become active once youve contacted them.

I found that BTOpenworld is split between residential and business sectors the business mail servers requires authentication - thats why I got error 550!!!

The tick box in outlook express, servers tab "my server requires Authentication" needs to be ticked and then you click settings and put in your BTOpenworld Account username and password. This must be the same for Exchange.

I contacted BTOpenworld Business and they sorted it for me!

Also I had to set-up my website which wasn't hosted by BT as a mail relay by emailing dns@btconnect.com with account name and security word and a decription of what i WANTED THEM TO DO. e>g SET-UP MAIL RELAY FOR I did this for all of my external domains which worked really well afterwards.
