Could anyone shed any light as to why we have a handful of 5330 IP Phones that randomly reboot?

Our environment is pretty simple, containing 8 sites, 4 of which are MXe controller and 4 CX controllers all running the same software version 8.0.10.7_1. All devices are 5330 IP phones and users login as hotdesk users.

There doesn’t seem to be any consistency as to when or why the phones reboot and it doesn’t happen to all devices, only a select few (20 or so out of 450).

When looking at the 3300 log file after a random reboot it reports the following:

Maintenace: Category(General); msgFormatId(0)Hot Desk : redirect or update for xxxx

LoginManager:sHandleCookieUpdateResult() -> Cookie delete fails for COOKIE_REJECT||LOGOUT_CLEANUP,DN=12345

Maintenance:Category(General); msgFormatId(0)Hot Desk: xxxx logged out from 12345 by system during registration.

Any help would be grateful.

I have seen this before and it was the network switch that was causing the issue.
It was a PoE overload problem
Enabling LLDP or CDP is the way to go forward as this will set the correct power settings for you phones.
By default most switches will supply 15w however it cannot supply enough PoE to all ports at 15w and shuts the power off to some ports.
LLDP/CDP uses a PoE class and correctly sets this to the set so a class 2 device would be 4 - 7w

i've never seen this alarm, but we had a similar problem last week with phones rebooting several times a day/hour. It turned out to be a firewall issue.

If the problem happens while a call is being transferred to it, turn off ICMP redirects in the data switches. Problem magically goes away.

I have a Mitel 3300 CXi that I want to add a SIP trunk to CCM Cisco Call manager I programmed the trunk ok but when I tried to program the SIP PEER PROfile it gave me a "value out of bound" error

Supernova99 - Thanks for the heads up on the POE overload. I've reviewed the configuration of our switches and I believe the CDP settings are ok. I say believe, because we are using Cisco Express 500 which don't seem to give you the ability to manually tweak the CDP settings. However each port with a 5330 phone connected is only showing 6.1 watts of utilisation.

Dryaquaman - ICMP redirects are already switched off.

Any chance of trying a power brick to eliminate the power issue?

Dry Aquaman - Running through a power brick makes no difference. I have a small remote site of 7/8 people using power bricks and I have the problem with them aswell.

Ah! You're using Teleworker?
I'm still leaning towards some type of ICMP issue.
I've seen it in using TW also. A Sniff would show a ICMP redirect coming from the TW server.
Turns out, someone had modified timers in the "Controller Registry". Go through the help file and be sure the timers are all default.
