I have a 5312 set that has been replaced twice, and is locked. Have released it in maint, but after answering call, reverts to locked status.

Is the 5312 licensed as a multi-device phone? If it is, do you have a multi device user group built for it? Most times I see a phone in the LOCKED phase, is because its licenses as multi device, but the MDUG hasn’t been created yet.

SX-200 ICP, and I don't think MDUG applies, thanks.

Deregister the set from the telephone system either like star star star or pound pound pound, I don't remember. Erase the extension number from the phone system make sure you write down all the settings of the telephone and all of the buttons and call forwardings. Reprogram the extension from scratch then connect the phone back to the phone system. While you register the phone to the phone system statically assign a new IP address to the telephone for the telephone to always use. Do not use the old IP address. Try that let me know if it fixes a problem more than likely it will resolve the issue

I wonder, if I erase the extension and re-program it, will it be assigned a new DHCP address that I could then change remotely to static and permanent?

Erased the phone and re-programmed as a 5312 bare bones. Now it has no MAC address nor does it show having an IP address, but it rings and is idle now!?

Not having a MAC address is odd. Almost sounds like a hardware failure I have a phone system out there that I can't get to the phones off of the old switch as soon as I put them in the new switch everything dies there's no special programming sounds like you're up to similar Creek I am. The phones work fine though. It almost seems like worth it to wire shark the connection and see if all the TCP and IP connections are working correctly.

It's almost like the IP DHCP host server portion of the mitel it's having problems dumping registered Mac addresses. You might try rebooting your network equipment that runs your phones but I try Wireshark first

Let me start off with saying sorry for taking so long to get back to you. Google search mitel sx200 ICP 3.0 handbook page 280 near the bottom of the book starts the section that you might want to read. I highly suggest you download and follow the instructions nobody can explain it better than mitel

I'm clear at the bottom. Could you be more specific? 280 shows device interconnection table.

Make sure it's the release 3.1 handbook. In the release 3.1 handbook if you look in the barry front section it says troubleshooting IP phones and connectivity issues and the chapter for that starts on page 280 of the book and it goes to like 2 296 I can take a screenshot of one of the pages and upload it

I posted link to this from we do phones but they are running on HTTP only which could be hard to download from. But regardless all of these Tech tips right from the manual and I found the manual to be the best source of information on that phone system it's well written

I hate to refer you to the manual on this but it's a little deeper involved from my perspective and I'm not really sure what to guide you on next. I was thinking that maybe those sets if they are newer have the wrong firmware and that could be why they don't work right but if they were working previously and then just stopped will I be looking at Network traffic to see if something is changed in the network and if that's not the case I would be troubleshooting the mitel itself it acts like it has a problem with DHCP and there are some things you can do on the back end of that phone system to clear the DHCP but it's not easy I think you need to boot into VX works instead of loading the phone system.

The non-registering of the MAC address I finally realized something else probably registered the Mac check your network to make sure that you don't have any other broadcasting devices serving DHCP within that same network. The only way that you can ever do something like that is to have vlans. But if you have two switches or routers trying to serve the same DHCP Circle that'll cause these not to work
