Hi,

I accidentally powered off a 5224 phone on boot and now it won't boot. It is in enhanced SIP Mode and worked fine. It says "booting SIP" and then "starting" and immediately goes to a blank screen. I have tried resetting the phone with no luck.
Any ideas?

Thanks,
Sam

looks like the same problem went unanswered...

There is a big chance to damage the phone if you unplug it while's booting up. Did you try to put it in minet mode? Is there any difference?

Good news, I fixed the problem.

For those in the future who come across this or those who are just curious to know how it was fixed, here you go:

I upgraded the firmware which I guess replaced the corrupted SIP package. I did so by setting up a TFTP server with TFTPGui. Next I extracted the files from here into my TFTP directory. You then need to set your 5224 to SIP mode and then reboot with the superkey held down. Then go to upgrade settings and enable TFTP upgrade and then in network settings put in your server IP as your TFTP server. I threw in the DNS just in case. Reboot the phone and it will ask to upgrade the firmware. Press "yes" and it will upgrade. It will reboot a few times, do not power off the phone! After that, it will boot up normally with defaulted settings in SIP mode! :)

Remember that you should only upgrade from a firmware of 7 to 8. If you're not at 7, you need to go from whatever you're at to the one higher and so on.

Good luck!

Guide I followed that was very confusing:

@ kokolino23 ,

Yeah, I learned the hard way. I thought about trying to revert back to Minet, However, I could not change to Minet as I had previously enabled enhanced SIP. You can't revert back to Minet after you turn on the enhanced SIP mode.
