Help I am new and downloaded Apache. I had it up and running for about 20 days and now I am getting a 504 Gateway Error. server unreachable..could not open error log. Some friends tell me that it states to many people trying to access it. Now I am new to coding as well and not many people have my new page. I am on cable ISP. I checked my error log but last date it shows anything is last month. Has anyone had this problem, or can offer some suggestions.

Hi,

A 504 normally occurs when there is a proxy server involved and indicates that the proxy server experienced a timout contacting the actual site. Assuming there is no problem with the proxy (could be your ISP's proxy servers) then it normally means the site is down (or unreachable due to firewalling as suggested by wullie).

Assuming you can successfully do you could try telnetting to your server on port 80 and, if connected, type 'GET /' and press enter a couple of times - you should get the raw html of the default page. Also you could scan your site back from the public internet to see if your port 80 seems open ....
Hope this helps
