Installed a 5000 5.1 HX with loop start trunks to replace an aging Nortel key system. Customer used voice call heavily with the old system. Voice call where you use a feature code to activate the speaker on a specific set...and talk to the receiving party. How do I emulate this on the 5000?

Thanks

Im not sure i understand your question......to activate the speaker, you just hit speaker, or just start dialing the number, including the outside access code (9 or 8) or whatever it is.

I may have been vague...I have yet to find a customer that likes the auto-answer when you dial the intercom...they want it to ring and allow the receiving party to pick up. This is standard. However there are times where they want the ability to "voice-call" an extension...which allows them to activate the receiving party's speaker and mic to announce transfers or whatever.

Think of it as a private, individual talk-back page. Nortel always had this feature and the sales guys assured them we would be able to emulate any feature they had. I personally never liked the feature, but some customers do. I found OHVA in the flags, but didn't seem to be able to get it to work...and it may not be it anyway...

You can do this by hitting the # before the ext number....there are some other progaming factors involved to get this to work.

Find the Feature Code for Ring Intercom Always, this will turn the feature on and off for each individual phone. The default setting is for it to be off so callers would always 'burst through' the receiving phones speaker.

NTEDave: yeah it comes out of the box that way, but they want to control it from the phone calling the set...

OK, Paspilla...I'm all ears...what programming factors...

Thanks for the pointer Paspilla.

I turned off ring int always and it is sort of a reverse voice-call with automatic voice-call unless you press # before the int number which forces the int to ring...The customer is pleased.

Thanks
