Hello, you are not gonna believe this:

1. I installed IIS 5 on WinXP Pro machine
2. DOES not work /shrug
3. Check hosts file, looks fine (127.0.0.1 localhost)
4. DOES not work as well :(
5. i did ipconfig /flushdns, thinking somehting was wrong
with my dns
6. i did a ping localhost, works fine, ping (computername)
works fine, ping ip address works fine.
7. I checked don't work,
Still don't work
8. address) works fine, but i have new ip every
time i log on my computer, so i need localhost.

Can ANYONE tell me why can't i get IIS to run ???

Have you checked to make sure the World Wide Web Publishing Service is running?

Hello, how do you check to see if you are running the World Wide Web Publishing Service??

hi again, Nevermind, the World Wide Web Publishing Service is Started (on).

SOLVED!!!!!

you must goto Internet Explorer, goto Tools --> Internet Options.
Click on the Connections Tab, click on Lan Settings, uncheck Automatically Detect Settings.

This was not letting me use Localhost, because it was searching the ISP for localhost.
