Our main office has a 61C (Version 2921, Release 3). We recently opened an office in another city which has a BCM (Version 4.0).

We would like to set up 5 digit dialing between the switches so that neither office has to dial the entire phone number to reach someone in the other office.

Is this possible with the switches we have? If so, is there a simple programming process to allow this?

yes, use lds 86 and 87 to add cdp.. dsc's ... quick tour.. build a route list block pointed to your tie trunks.. then add a distant steering code pointed to that rlb..

so if i want to dial 5xxxx i only need a single distant steering code..

There are a few options.

You could use a DMI table of both of the switchs which is a Digit Manipulation Index so that when a certain number is dial it can be set to dial an alternative number.

You could also do it using DPNSS (Digital Private Network Signalling System) This one is more ideal if the call traffic is going to be high between the two which would mean that you would save a fair bit of money as it would avoid using Public networks but you would require purchasing a fixed link which would enable Desk to Desk dialling, Ring when free (when someone is on the phone you can select this option and it notify's you when they are off the phone) it would also be compliant with ACD queues so you could have 2 call centres but they could all log into the same skill sets as well as attendant services and meridian mail if you use it.
