5.0.5 Install on Pentium 4 XEON 3

My supplier says he won't have a problem installing OpenServer 5.0.5 on a new P4 xeon. I say he will based on SCO Knowledge Center.

What could he do to "work around" the problem? Thanks for your input here.

Should be able to go into bios of motherboard and have cpu fans run at constant speed, default is speed based on cpu temperature.

I have 5.0.5 and 5.0.4 running on P4's n o problem. (yet)

there are a number of thermal management issues that are not addressed until 5.0.6a as well as microcode enhancements that are available in oss651A

To run on a P4, you should upgrade to 5.07 because of the hyperthreading.

It may run ok, but there have been a lot of problems with the older versions.

For my stuff, I just used the Athlon processer.

We purchased 5.0.7 and I love it. Much improvement over 5.0.5.
