How can I play the 4GB wave file that I recorded last night?, the recording stopped when 4GB was reached and now I cannot play it.

Did you stop the wav file or did you run out of space? If you ran out of space then there's your answer.
Have you enough temporary space and memory to run the file you created?

Thanks for the reply 'dontaskme', I was using a new IBM 46GB hard drive with 41GB still remaining on the drive. I left Creative Recorder recording Radio 1 and it stopped all by itself when the 4GB barrier was reached, I think that 4GB is the max file size for this type of file, but although the file size is reported as being 4,194,241 KB, the file will not play with either Creative Player or Windows MediaPlayer 7. Ihad recorded a 1,779,284 KB file just before and that was fine.
Any Ideas???
Thanks,

oh yeah, you could convert it to an mp3 (which would take the size down alot.) then, if you really wanted, you can make a self playing mp3.

here is a good wave to mp3 converter (really easy to use):

and here is the self playing mp3 creator:

That.. and don't you have to have suffecient RAM to load the .wav into memory for a normal wav player to play it?

Hmmmmm... the mp3 thing sounds like a better course of action.. I don't think your board can pull up that much memory......

good luck

Thanks for the replies chaps. I can open it with Music Match but I cannot move the curser forward ie fast forward, I cannot convert it into MP3 as not all the information is there, track length etc. The thing stopped recording because the 4GB limit was reached, but unfortunately, since the other information is not present I cannot do much with the file. My plan was no cut the recording up into tracks and CD length files but I am stumped. I have tried the new MediaPlayer 8 encoder and I am impressed with this. I have used this on my other recordings, but it does not work on the big one as it does not know the lenght of the track. What I need is some kind of tool that will ascertain the file information and make it present for media players to recognise and be able to open it. I have tried Wave Safe but this program does not allow me to 'check' the files, only to protect them.
Any ideas anybody???
Yours truly appreciatively
