I just got a 4621SW IP phone today and wanted to test it with out phone system which is a G3si and we have a medpro card (TN2302) and 2 C-Lan cards (TN799). I can access the IP's for all of them.

I plugged up the 4621SW directly to the network switch on the same netowrk as the phone system. I powered the phone up and entered in the C-Lan ip for the call svr and left the file svr blank for now. when it asked for the extension and password I entered both and it gave no errors.

The screen is just lit and it is blank with nothing on it. I get no dial tone when I pick up the handset or have the speaker on. I have the phone system to say it is a 4620 phone because 4621 isn't listed.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the help

What is the software version of your system? I think you need to be release 11 or higher to run 4621's on a definity.

ok I now have a display but I have no dial tone. Maybe there is a specific setup for the extension I am missing.

Just to make sure.
You have the extension programmed as an IP set with a password?
CLAN board is operating and the data mod and link are up?
The Medpro is programmed and working?

Let me know, but I need a few things looked at.

Extension is programmed and password/security code is set. Both boards are up and running. The MedPro is programmerd and working. We have two series one phones on it now.

Little extra info.

When I dial the extension from my phone it just hangs-up right away and I can't dial out.

are you running the latest firmware on your boards? i imagine the phone is fairly up to date, but you may want to check it as well.

Is the new 4621 in a different port network from the 2 that are working? If so, do you have MedPro's in both PN's.
Is the new phone in the same IP-Network-Region as the 2 working phones? If so, do you have IP-Codec-Sets configured so that the different regions can communicate with each other?

the 4621 is plugged into the same switch as the CLAN/Medpro cards. It is on the same IP range as the CLAN/Medpro cards. The CLAN and Medpro cards are all configured for region 1 from what I can tell from reading these boards. region 1 is set to Codec 1.

Maybe someone can help me go through the switch config? I am not that familiar with the IP phone functionality and how the system is configured to allow it to work. The phone part is easy except for the VLAN question and the 802.1Q setting.

Still looking for ideas if anybody has some.

I think you need to administer the telephone as a 4621. If it is administered as a 4620, it probably won't work.

Yeah I was afraid of that. I don't have it as a phone listed in my system. Oh well I will have to stick with the series one phone for now.
