I have a Pix 501 to Pix [525UR at Main] hardware VPN network is up and solid I am having the same issue where the 46xx.scr and .bin files transfer successfully but after I enter Ext and Password the phone displays Discover and the IP address of the IPO 406v2 3.1(56). I have read thru and have done the no fixup for both h323 ports and SIP ports? Do I need to upgrade the software? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds like a default route issue on the IPO. Do you have an IP route pointing to the PIX. If the PIx is the only router/firewall then add something like this.

IP add 0.0.0.0
subnet 0.0.0.0
Gateway X.X.X.X where X is the address of the pix
destination LAN1

Thanks that was it. I forgot the IPO was pointed at the WAN router and not the VPN router.

I have the exact same issue with a 5620 sw ip on a vpn link back to the ipoffice 4.05. A 5610 sw ip worked fine in the same environment.

The problem is most likely the router(s). The one the client in my case has a tz70 sonic wall. There is a known issue with that router. And probably others too. SonicWALL UTM devices don't automatically allow RTP traffic streams based on H.323 signaling. They must be programmed. We think the traffic for the 5620 used additional signalling that stopped operation of t he set whereas the 5610 would work in the exact same environment. contact the netwrok administrator to effect the changes to the router programming based on the support from the router mfg. And Good luck
