I have a 4621SW IP that I am trying to setup. I have set up several of the same phones for the IP Office 500. When the phone starts up I press * to program, I press # several times to get to the Command Prompt and try to clear the phone (mute or hold 2 5 3 2 7 #) but it does not respond to most commands. I am only trying to clear the phone since it hasn’t worked after being configured. It just loads over and over. Thanks for any help.

That is because these commands are blocked in the 46settings.txt file.

Read this and remove the two ## at the beginning of the line to enable and set the feature, full details are in the 4600 LAN Admin guide :

If you can't change 46xxsettings.txt for any reason you can configure the phone by DHCP scope options.

Hi, The Phone is saving the settings file then loading to flash but it will only go to 67% and then stop loading.
Counts up to about 60 secs then the phone will display Hardware Failure Cannot save file. Any suggestions?

circlejs, I think there is a dodgy batch of 46/5621's around, we have just sent back a 5621 with the exact same problem, it seems to grab the bin files but never loads them properly it just goes in a boot loop, it will respond the "Hold" RESET but not "Hold" CLEAR. this was brand new out the box so I refused to spend too much time on it but it was goosed :)

Andy,
I have had a bunch of 5621's do that. sometimes if you leave them rebooting long enough they will finally load. other times you can load bins from 3.2 and they will load. once they upgrade the first time they are ok after that. not sure what the problem is but avaya blamed us....

I left it for maybe 20 mins in the loop, it completely receives the new bin file but upon reboot it doesn't load it, it downloads it again and reboots, downloads it again reboots etc etc. Our disty sent us a new one anyway, they tried to say it is a repair item only but after we pointed out it was brand new and if they want us to pay to repair faulty brand new kit that has to replaced by law, we would A) close our account and B)Drive down and insert it up their @rse ...they agreed to replace it :)

ya that sounds exactly like what we have had. it would never save the files to flash. I have had tons of issues with 16xx phones too. deleting the file server.

I'm not a fan of the 16xx phones at all, we have still managed to avoid selling them, usually by a side by side quality comparison and the customer tends to change their mind and go for 46/56/96 thanksfully :)

Thanks, I will talk with my supplier for a replacement.
